St Mary's Catholic Primary School

Live, Love, Believe

Curriculum Overview

Annually, the curriculum at St Mary's is reviewed and refined.  Please look at the information about our curriculum and if you have any questions please meet with Mrs Broome to discuss more.

Remote learning if ever required for example due to inclement weather such as snow preventing attendance at school will be provided through online learning.  There will also be occasions when home learning is sent home in paper format as the need for remote ;earning has been anticipated and the home learning pack is identified as the best way to support the child's learning.  This will be supported when identified by the school with online lessons or interaction with the class.

We have developed our curriculum statement below to reflect our Catholic ethos at St Mary's and our aspirations for the children in our school community, both while they are with us at school and as they move on to new experiences.

At St Mary's we strive to provide a broad and balanced curriculum, incorporating the requirements of the Early Years Framework and the National Curriculum.  We seek to engage the children with challenging and enjoyable learning experiences, through the use of our extensive and lovely grounds, visits off site and visitors to school - including scientists, musicians, history workshops and sports coaches.

We recognise that many children will likely need emotional support during their time with us, whether this is a result of events at home, friendship issues at school or other factors. We are proud of our Nurture support which enables children to discuss their problems in a safe environment and agree positive ways forward. This approach is supported by our Relationships curriculum, our Catholic mission statement and our seven Catholic values as well as our PSHE programme.

We are committed to providing a curriculum which is suitable for all children, including those with Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND). We ensure our curriculum complies with the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2015. Please see the link below to our Inclusion policy.

Please see the inividual pages for more information on each curriculum subject and our EYFS page for specific information about the Reception curriculum.
