Science at St Mary's Catholic Primary School

At St Mary's we teach a high-quality Science Education that provides the foundations for understanding the world through each of the Scientific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics.

We want our pupils to Live, Love and Believe in Science!

In each Science lesson, children learn key scientific knowledge, skills and vocabulary that are progressive and sequenced from EYFS to Year 6 and include a range of practical investigations and scientific testing. Children are encouraged to be curious about the world around them to question, make predictions and record their findings.

Pupils develop their Scientific knowledge and skills  through the six different types of Scientific enquiry:

•          Observation over time
•          Identifying and classifying
•          Comparative testing
•          Pattern Seeking
•          Research
•          Problem Solving

Wherever possible we try to ensure that children see the links between the Science they are currently being taught and their previous learning as well as making real life learning links.
