Our Mission Statement
We believe having a mentally healthy community is not about being happy all the time, but about working together through the challenges and sharing the celebrations; feeling supported, heard, accepted, valued and empowered.
What we believe Mental Health and Wellbeing looks like for the School Community at St Mary's Primary
Acknowledging our work to support Mental Health
We currently have a childrne' wellbeing group set up within school that actively promotes positive mental health and wellbeing. The groups talks about what good mental health looks like and develops things across the school to help everyone. Examples of this is a whole school wellbeing day, where each class had an activity set up to promote relaxation and wellbeing, such as massage, yoga and group talking sessions.
We are also a thrive school, where staff are trained to look out for issues surrounding mental health and wellbeing and put in intervention if needed. Each class has the zones of regulation embedded, where each day, children can show which zone they are in. If children identify they are in the 'blue' or 'red' zone, staff have to support children with these emotions and put in support to ensure they can achieve a more settled 'green' zone.
Other interventions that we are able to offer within our school provision is:
We take part in special events throughout the year that promote a positive mental health and attitude. These events are not only fun and interactive but allow children to build vital life skills. Some examples of these are:
