What is the Woodland Room?
Our Woodland Room is an school led provision for children with SEN needs, who cannot access the mainstream classroom. Children have access to an alternative curriculum which allows them to have a positive environment and learn skills to be able to access mainstream.
Will children always be in the Woodland Room?
When children have learnt the skills to be able to access the mainstream classroom we use a thorough transition plan to transition children back to the classroom.
Who plans for children in the Woodland room and what do they learn?
All children have individuel plans planned for by the teacher and the SENCo, this way we can cater for the childrens individuel needs and move at a pace that is right for them.
Children enjoy a range of alternative curriculum activities such as Forest School, practical science and indepedent and life skills.
Can anybody join the Woodland room?
The decision is held between the SENCo, Head of School and Exectutive head. Children are assessed and reviewed every 6 weeks with a new transition plan.
All children in the school have access to the Woodland room if they are dyresgulated, although we have sensory equipment in every classroom, some children need more support and have access to our sensory room and some of the larger equipment.
