A warm welcome to you from all of us at St Mary's Catholic Primary School!
We are a small one form entry Catholic school situated in the seaside town of Ryde on the (usually!) sunny Isle of Wight. We welcome children from all religions and from none to our Catholic school community. We do ask that all in our school - adults and children alike - respect our Catholic ethos, uphold our Mission - Live, Love, Believe - and explore through actions and words the Catholic Social Teaching that underpins our Mission. We have daily acts of worship, school masses and church services.
We make good use of our wonderful surroundings and take as much of our learning outside as we can from our very youngest children in Reception, right up to our wonderful Year Six class. We are presently using the Sports Premium funding to develop the outside area further.
We are very fortunate to have extensive grounds surrounding the school as well as being within easy and safe walking distance of the beach.
Our school day runs from 8.30am to 2.30pm. This is a total of 31.25 hours a week.
Children are well supported in class with their learning by our experienced teachers and learning support assistants. Some children may need additional support from time to time in their journey through school - this can be a short intervention to "plug a gap" or a longer term intervention to address a specific need. Working together with our Special Educational Needs lead (SENDCo) - Mrs Kristy Skelley, you can be sure that your child will receive the support needed to help them make progress.
We welcome parents into school to hear readers or help out in class or on trips: please do contact the school office or your child's class teacher if you are able to help out in any way.
We offer a number of different after school clubs to different year groups across the year - these may include art based clubs, athletics, rounders and so on. Details of each half term's clubs and the costs are sent home in advance; once payment is received via Scopay, the place is booked for your child.
We offer a Breakfast Club and an After School Club, both of which should be booked and paid for in advance.
We are fortunate also to have music teachers come into school weekly - guitar lessons, drums, keyboards are on offer and we have regular sessions through the Music Hub for classes to learn a musical instrument: so far, ukuleles, djembe and brass!
We would love you to visit our school and meet the community - please make an appointment via the school office (admin@stmaryspri.co.uk or tel 01983 562000), or click on the New to St Mary's tab or look under the Children tab - Video Resource Centre - to see a video of our Reception children and see what a typical day in Reception looks like.
Under the Gallery tab, you will see many photos of our school environment and the children too.
We look forward to welcoming you to our school!
