Commonwealth Day

On Monday, our KS2 School Councillors, along with other local schoolchildren, joined The Mayor of Ryde and other local dignitaries at Eastern Gardens to celebrate Commonwealth Day. The Commonwealth Flag was raised,  we listened to a reading from the Queen, read by Deputy Lieutenant Brigadier Maurice Sheen and we read The Commonwealth Affirmation together. We ended with a blessing from Revd. Veronica Brown.

The children were a credit to the school and came away leaning that there are 53 member countries in the Commonwealth including Sri Lanka,  and that the Sri Lankan greeting for hello is "Ayubowan"
